Andy needed a stiff track frame. While Andy’s priority was stiffness, he also required quick handling custom geometry, plenty of dropout adjustability, an integrated seat mast, and traditional threaded bottom bracket.
To address stiffness, Appleman Bicycles designed the front triangle tubing with oversized diameters and a layup schedule to maximize torsional and flexural stiffness. Stiffness in the chainstays was optimized through carbon fiber modification of the underlying structure.
The custom made, tapered seat tube was designed for maximum stiffness yet still accept a 31.6mm seat post and clamp.
The seat stay bridge comes to a point, a “speed point”. This point is echoed throughout the frame in the carbon layups.
