Boo RS-M29 – bamboo tubes and carbon fiber joints The Boo RS-M29 was conceived to provide the ultimate combination of drivetrain stiffness, steering precision, and a forgivable ride. The RS-M29 is a bike meant specifically for the rapidly growing endurance mountain bike discipline. The bamboo tubes are hand picked, the cream of the crop, chosen for their maturity and fiber density. The carbon layup is specific to the RS version of this Boo 29er and features a higher modulus of fiber to increase stiffness at the joints. The full 1.5″ carbon head tube and Press Fit 30 BB maximize the available surface area for the oversized bamboo tubing. The bamboo is significantly stiffer than steel by mass, yet it absorbs a great amount of vibration and provides just enough suppleness to ensure a smooth ride over rough trails. The integrated seatmast, an extension of the full-carbon seat tube, provides the ultimate lateral drivetrain stiffness at the BB. The frame geometry is designed to increase stand over height while allowing the seat mast to act as a cantilever suspension post that soaks up the bumps. The overall concept of the bike puts durability first, followed closely by weight, stiffness, and snappy acceleration and climbing. This is why a Lefty carbon fork, Enve carbon tubeless rims, Rohloff Speedhub, and a Gates belt drive were chosen–each provides maximum performance coupled with superior reliability.
